| History aims to increase knowledge and understanding of life changing events and to discover how these events impacted on the lives of ordinary people in the past. In addition, provision is given to study certain periods and events in depth such as the Middle Ages, world War One and the Native Americans. |

History also provides opportunities to develop transferrable skills in research and ICT, for example, and also aims to develop enquiry skills through the analysis of a variety of primary and secondary evidence. Furthermore, in order to bring history to life, opportunities for role-play activities, listening to visiting speakers and attending local exhibitions and site visits are provided.
