Communication

Communication is very important to us. We communicate with parents in many different ways: we hold parents’ evenings and information evenings (as per the school calendar), use text messaging and send out monthly newsletters; we also have regular contributions to the local newspapers. We hold Parent Council meetings twice per term, some of which are held in primary schools outwith Portree in order to enable parents from outlying areas to attend more conveniently.

We would ask parents to contact us about an absence on the morning of absence advance if known. A text message will be sent if a student is absent without our foreknowledge.

Each term we hold success assemblies and worship assemblies and we also send out letters for specific events. We hold open-door meetings on Wednesday afternoons. We welcome communication and encourage parents to email us with any enquires or concerns.

Concerns

If you have any concerns then please let us know as quickly as possible, either by email, letter, or telephone.

Complaints Procedure

We hope that any concerns that parents have will be resolved in a timely and amicable fashion. However, should any parent have a complaint then Highland Council procedures apply and any complaint should be made in the first instance to the Head Teacher. This can initially be verbal, but should formalisation be necessary, then it must be in writing. If the matter is not resolved satisfactorily, then it should be referred to the Area Education Manager, Mrs Norma Young.

Please note that transport is not a school responsibility and any queries should be addressed to the Local Transport Officer, Transport Office, Fort William.

Thinking about moving to Skye

If you are moving to the area and would like your son/daughter to visit the school, please contact us and we will be happy to arrange a visit. You will be given the relevant documentation and a tour of the school. Your son/daughter will be allocated to one of four ‘Houses’ and will meet the relevant PT Support. On your next visit, a timetable will be issued.
